Leaders

Let's get to know our 2016 Symposium Staff:

Let me introduce to you a team whose hearts beat for Jesus and desire to know the truth of God's word every single day. They are at your service. They have tasted and seen (Psalm 34:8) that Jesus Christ is an all sufficient Savior and the only way to eternal life (John 3:16) and they LIVE it out! Do you have questions about God, or life in general? Ask any of our leaders, and they will meet you where you are at, and help you discover our true God!

Jeremiah Snyder

Contact: symposium@gbcwestallis.org.  262-894-5379

Nic-name: Jer

Who are you: I am loved by Jesus Christ, and it humbles me daily. I don't deserve it, and I guess that's the point. I am married to the woman of my dreams Rebecka Snyder, and I'm father to the cutest kid I know, Caleb (2). I am an Art teacher at Grace Christian Academy, and the co-owner of Viridian Landscape LLC. In my spare time I can be found taming stallions, climbing mountains, slaying dragons, taking long walks along the beach etc.

Special Talents/Abilities: I play guitar and sing. I enjoy pole vaulting. I think I have the same power as Rogue (from X-men). A homeless guy riding his bike once pointed at me and circled me... I'm not sure what that means, but it's gotta count for something.

Special Oddities or strange super powers: My arms are freakishly long, and I can switch accents at anytime, though they usually end up Australian.
School: Graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in Art Education.

He would like to be known for: Being a truth seeker. A believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Favorite Bible Character (besides Jesus): Peter seems to be an all or nothing kind of guy. I like this example of how Peter might have responded. It reminds me of my struggle with God.

Favorite You Tube video: Lifehouse Everything Skit
Fears : Centipedes, Aliens, and Letting Someone Down.

Symposium Excitement: I'm excited to be a part of our new Symposium Youth Group!
Favorite Verse: 3rd John 4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Becky Snyder

Contact: symposium@gbcwestallis.org. 414-699-6102

Nickname: Becky, Smuko (although this is now obsolete)
A little about her: the wife of my best friend and an incredible man with a heart seeking God (frequently goes by the name of Jeremiah), a woman desiring to serve God and others, sister, friend, employee at the Medical College of Wisconsin, aunt, user of the word "bubbler", world traveler!
Special talents/abilities: fluent in German, knitting (on occasion), deal-hunter and coupon-clipper extraordinaire, and I can lose my keys or cellphone in the bottom of my purse faster than anyone I know!

Special oddities/superpowers: a laugh that sometimes breaks the sound barrier; with a tough scar blazing across the roof of my mouth who needs a tattoo?!?; I can make a mean cup of coffee without a coffee pot OR a filter. AND I recently found out that I can create a human being inside of me! That's right, I'll be bringing our new baby into the world sometime in July hopefully.

School: South Milwaukee High School, Calvin College, UWM

She would like to be known for: striving for integrity, purity, openness, and brokenness all for the sake of drawing near to our Savior, seeking truth regardless of cost

Bible character: There are many heroes in the word of God, but one woman's story is short and takes your breath away...Jael! (check it out in Judges if you don't have a weak stomach)

Tv/movie: Don't own a tv, but I do enjoy the hilarity known as the Muppets!

Afraid of: Frogs (eh hem, have you READ Exodus?!? Where did their gooey selves all come from or go to??? Ahh!) Ready for this twist? This severely conflicts with my favorite Muppet, Kermit...I've needed counseling for years. :)

Excited for Sympo: New adventures, hard belly laughs, discovering the gold mine that is the Scripture, sharing and listening to life stories, all TOGETHER!
